One of the busiest days of the Knoxville High School Sports calendar is today as six Panthers sports are in action. The Boys Golf Squad heads to the Moravia Invitational continuing their busy week. Knoxville is coming off winning the team championship at Centerville on Tuesday, and Evan Smith was overall medalist. The tennis squads are playing Albia today as the boys are hosting at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts in Knoxville while the girls travel to Albia. The boys are hoping to continue a trend of sweeping South Central Conference teams as the Panthers have won their three conference duals by 9-0 counts. Girls and boys track head in separate directions as the boys, after resting several varsity runners at Carlisle on Tuesday will be at PCM, while the girls will take to the track at Carlisle. Boys Soccer travels to Oskaloosa continuing its tour through the Little Hawkeye Conference. After winning in the last possible second in double overtime against Newton on Monday, Coach Dylan Mick hopes his defense is up to the challenge tonight and wants his guys to stay engaged for the entire 80:00 without a let down.
Mick:
“That’s what you got to avoid. It’s just high reps and high intensity, we do a lot of scrimmaging and situational work and our guys are trying to gel. As much fun as it is to score goals, you have to rely on your defense.”
The Panthers will end their Little Hawkeye Conference portion of the schedule tomorrow by traveling to Grinnell.
