Knoxville Tennis Beats Albia
The Knoxville Tennis squads took care of Albia on Thursday. The boys turned back the Blue Demons at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts in Knoxville 8-1. Gabe Matthais, Carter Short, Jaxon Zuck, Andrew Orr, and Grant Liston all posted singles wins. Both Matthais and Orr tell KNIA/KRLS Sports it has been a great start to the season.
Coach Perry Bell said the guys were able to adapt after rearranging the line up at the last minute due to injuries. The girls meanwhile, defeated the Lady Dees 5-4. Olivia Maasdam, Josalin McKeever, and Jadyn Streigle got singles wins. The Panthers had to take two of the three doubles matches to clinch the victory. The boys remain unbeaten in head-to-head play in the South Central Conference while the girls even their record at 2-2 with only Chariton to play in the conference.
Knoxville Boys Soccer Fall To Oskaloosa, Boys Golf 3rd At Moravia, Girls Place 13th At Carlisle
The Knoxville Boys Soccer squad fell to Oskaloosa on Thursday 2-1. Jay Kellar got the only goal for the Panthers. Coach Dylan Mick said it was a frustrating night playing in a 30mph wind. Carson Irving made seven saves. The Knoxville boys golf squad continues to impress as the Panthers placed 3rd out of 17 teams at the Moravia Invitational on Thursday. Evan Smith placed 4th overall with a 76. Running against some of the bigger schools in the area, the Knoxville girls track and field squad placed 13th at the Carlisle Wildcat Classic on Thursday. Melanie Sullivan was 6th in the 200 and Ciara Heffron placed 4th in the discus.
