The Little Hawkeye Conference track and field meet will take place Tuesday at Norwalk High School, setting up one of the most competitive conference meets on both the girls and boys sides. Indianola girls track and field head coach Kim Arndt tells KNIA News depth will play a big part in crowning this year’s conference champions.
“That’s what we are counting on, and that’s what we as coaches have to convince the kids of. We may go into the state meet and not have very many conference champions, but they need to understand the way we’ve developed our lineup is to score more points than everyone else. We gotta be willing to maybe take some 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th place finishes but at the end of the line hopefully at the top of the conference.”
The Indians currently hold the top conference competitions in the 1500m, 100 hurdles, high jump, and shuttle hurdle relay.
