The Knoxville School Board accepted a budget amendment at its meeting Monday. Business Manager Craig Mobley says this is due to an influx of federal funding and will not impact property taxes.
“We received a lot of additional funding for COVID relief. We also have started on our new middle school project. At the time last year when we certified our budget, we really didn’t have a good estimate for either of those items. That’s really what the budget amendment is about. We had additional expenses because we spent the COVID funding. And by June 30th, we’ll have extensive expenses with the middle school project. We’re amending our budget for that. It doesn’t affect property tax rates at all.”
