Knoxville’s Competine Trail is nearing completion, with paving underway. Parks & Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers says this is the end of a long process.
“They’re moving right along. Unfortunately, it was supposed to be done last fall. COVID and those types of things kind of slowed things down for us. I’m happy to report that we’re probably over halfway on the paving. As long as the weather holds up, we should get the rest of it paved this week. There’s a chance that within the next couple weeks, the general public will be able to get on that and use it. I’ve been down there, watching them pour on some sections. It’s beautiful. It’s great scenery, it’s a long time coming, I appreciate everyone’s patience on that. Let’s hope we don’t wait another 16 years like we did from the first phase to this phase.”
The trail will extend through much of Knoxville, which according to Nemmers, will be an excellent recreation opportunity for residents. Hear more about the project on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
