Drama in the pits and dominance on the track would describe week three of the Knoxville Raceway season as heard live Saturday on KNIA. The night began with a motor heater exploding in the pits and causing a minor leg injury to a crewman from Justin Henderson. The crewman was treated and released by track safety personnel. Then the McCarl Family had two motors blow in about a 10:00 timeframe with Austin’s expiring in hot laps. His crew changed the power plant, only to see younger brother Carson’s motor bite the dust. With no more motors left, Austin scratched for the night and allowed Carson to drive his car due to Carson running for points this season. On the track, Matthew Stelzer won back-to-back races Saturday in the Pro Sprints, while Clint Garner dominated the 360 race leading every lap. Garner told KNIA/KRLS Sports time trialing was the key to his winning the night.

Garner:
“It takes every piece of the puzzle and the hardest piece is qualifying. We got on the front row with ninth quick and at ninth quick I thought we’d start ninth and get a top five, but when I saw we were starting on the front row, our goals changed and we had to win, so qualifying made the difference tonight.”

Lynton Jeffrey blitzed the field pulling away after every restart to win comfortably. Another night of 410, 360 and Pro Sprints racing awaits fans on Saturday.
