Marion County is experiencing an uptick in norovirus cases, according to Marion County Public Health Director Kim Dorn. Norovirus is a disease that causes diarrhea and vomiting, and is not killed by hand sanitizer, and Dorn says handwashing for 20 seconds or more is the most effective way to prevent spread. Environmental cleaning should be done using a bleach-based or commercial cleaner.
