The South Central Conference Track and Field Meet is tonight hosted by Clarke. Knoxville will head to the meet trying to pull off a few upsets and hoping the numbers add up to a conference title. For the boys, the Panthers have improved throughout the season and Coach Eric Kellar tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his team can compete for the title.

The Panthers are ranked first in the conference in four events. Kieren Nichols leads in the 200 and 400 while Tristin DeJong has the number one time in the 100 and long jump. The Panthers also have the best time in the 4×400 meter relays and 800 medley relay. For the girls, Ashlyn Finarty is the top distance in the shot put, however, the Panthers have several athletes that are either second or third in their events. Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the girls are looking forward to competing and seeing what they can do against fellow conference teams.

Melanie Sullivan currently has the third best time in the 100 and 200 races, along with Natalie Collins third in the 1500. Ciara Heffron also has a shot at a lot of points as she has the second longest throw in the discus.
