Knoxville Tennis Squads Cruise To Conference Wins Over Chariton

Both of the Knoxville Tennis squads were victorious over Chariton on Thursday night with convincing wins. The boys clinched the regular season South Central Conference title with an 8-1 victory over the Chargers. Gabe Matthias, Carter Short, Jackson Zuck, Andrew Orr, and Grant Liston posted singles wins with the Panthers sweeping the doubles portion of the meet. It was nearly identical in the girls meet with Knoxville blanking Chariton 9-0. Olivia Maasdam, Alyssa Vaske, Josalin McKeever, Jadyn Streigle, Laila Tiller, and Kate Schneider posted wins. Knoxville boys finish the regular season with a 5-0 conference record and more impressively 43-2 in matches. The boys are in action Saturday at Fairfield while the girls next action is Tuesday hosting the South Central Conference Tournament.

Knoxville Boys 2nd, Girls 7th In South Central Conference Track Meet

The Knoxville Boys Track and Field Squad came within five points of pulling off a conference title Thursday night at Clarke. The Panthers finished runner-up to Davis County as Kieren Nichols won four gold medals taking the conference title in the 100, 200, and 400 dashes and was apart of the 4×400 meter relay team. Other top finishers for the Panthers were T.J. DeJong 2nd in the 100 and 200 dashes Kaden McGill 2nd and Seth Walraven 3rd in the 800, Walraven also placed 2nd in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. The Panthers also got conference titles in the 4×100 and 800 sprint medley relays. The girls finished up 7th earning two individual conference titles with Melanie Sullivan winning the long jump and Ashlyn Finarty taking 1st place in the shot out. Other top performances were Sullivan placing 2nd in the open 400 and Ciara Heffron placed 2nd in the discus. Complete results can be found with this story on kniakrls.com.
