A Pella student has been trying to share joy ever since Tulip Time was cancelled in 2020 through her artwork. Jacie Trine has been using chalk near tulip beds in Sunken Gardens and Central Park as a way to brighten the days of visitors during the celebration. Trine says the idea was started during last year’s quarantine and closures, and she wanted to celebrate the return to festivities this year through artwork.

“With COVID and everything shut down, it was really hard to really interact with people, and this was one of the ways we really tried to spread some joy,” she says.

Those who want to see the artwork can do so at Sunken Gardens four blocks north of downtown Pella on Main Street or near tulips on the northern half of Pella’s Central Park.
