Two more Knoxville squads are going for South Central Conference glory on Monday as the boys tennis squad and girls golf will play in conference meets. The class 3A 13th ranked girls golf squad is confident about their chances at Honey Creek Resort in Moravia. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his team started the year at the hunter, now he says they are playing the role of the hunted and hopes the girls will embrace the favorite role.

Smith:
“We have the target on our back for a change, and I talked to the girls about that in practice this week. It’s nice to be the favorite and we have a really good shot at winning the conference.”

While the girls will play in Moravia, the boys only have to cross Madison Street to get to the South Central Conference Meet as the Panthers host at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts. The Panthers are the heavy favorite going in as they steamrolled through the conference with a 5-0 record and 43-2 in individual matches.
