Much needed precipitation fell over the weekend after the entire region had recently been re-added to the U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Most rain gauges locally recorded 1-2″ of rainfall, with some locations receiving more, including:

Pella (KNIA/KRLS) – 1.09″
Knoxville – 1.41″
Indianola (Middle River) – 1.09″
Lake Red Rock – 1.29″
Ackworth (South River) – 1.02″

In the April 29th U.S. Drought Monitor Report, all KNIA/KRLS area counties were upgraded to abnormally dry conditions after a dry spell throughout the month of April.

A gradual warm up is expected this week, according to the National Weather Service, with daytime highs in the lower 60s and up and eventually above 70 by the weekend, and precipitation chances returning Friday and continuing periodically into early next week.
