The Indianola boys golf team are the Little Hawkeye Conference champions after shooting a 315 at the Westwood Golf Course in Newton Tuesday morning. The Indians got top finishes from Preston Bily and Max Trembly shooting 77’s, and Jackson Overton shooting a 78 to finish 4th, 5th, and 6th respectively, while the Indians overall won the meet by a whopping 23 strokes over Oskaloosa. The Indians are competing in a pair of spring tournaments after several cancellations in the fall.
The Indians girls golf team placed 4th in the LHC conference meet with a 418 at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa. The Indians got top finishes from Hanna Graham in 4th place shooting a 95, while Jaiden Wallander and Kinzey Johnston placed 9th and 10th respectively shooting a 98 and 99. The Indians will next compete Thursday at SE Polk.
The Indians girls tennis squad placed 2nd at the Little Hawkeye Conference tournament Tuesday afternoon with 32 points. Paige Bily took home the flight 1 singles title with a first place finish with wins in straight sets in the semifinals and finals, while Aubree Freshly ended in 5th place in flight 2 singles. The pairings of Melina Darrah and Anna Jordan placed sixth in flight 1 doubles, while Hayden Laschansky and Hannah Price were 2nd in flight 2 doubles. The Indians next compete in the regional tournament next Wednesday at Johnston.
The Indianola boys tennis squad earned a third place finish in the LHC tournament, scoring 24 points. Lane McGraw and Jackson Becker each earned a 4th place finish in flight 1 and flight 2 singles respectively, while the duo of Logan Hageman and Drake Downard placed 3rd in flight 1 doubles, and the duo of Logan Darrah and Casey Daughenbaugh also placed 3rd in flight 2 doubles. Head coach Jamie Busby tells KNIA Sports the Indians depth really showed through this year, and from top to bottom the roster performed better than could be expected after losing a large senior class in 2019 and not having a season last year. The Indians will next compete in the district tournament tomorrow at Johnston High School.
