Pella Boys Tennis Team Keeps Undefeated Season Going, Dominating League Tournament
In Grinnell, the No. 2 in 1A Pella boys tennis team continued their dominance, winning the league tournament. The Dutch swept the top of the doubles leaderboard, with Vaughn Thompson and Jack Edwards winning flight one and Adam Schreur and Jack Briggs sweeping flight two. The team now turns its focus to the 2021 postseason and making a run at the school’s fourth consecutive state team appearance and at qualifying individuals and doubles pairs beginning this Wednesday in Knoxville. Eagles Double Pair Earns Individual LHC Tennis Title; Lady Dutch 3rd at Team
The Lady Dutch tennis team was 3rd and the Eagles were 6th at the Little Hawkeye Conference tournament in Norwalk. Pella Christian’s duo of Megan Kramer and Kelly Van Wyk were the top doubles pair in flight one, while Pella had a strong day in singles, with Emily Blom and Alloree Else both taking 2nd in the flight one and two brackets respectively. The Eagles and Lady Dutch tennis teams begin the regional playoffs Saturday at their home courts, with both top ten ranked teams having home court advantage until the regional championship on May 22nd, assuming they advance. Pella’s Simpson Highlights Boys Golf Individual Conference Tournament
Both Pella and Pella Christian traveled to Newton to compete in the Little Hawkeye Conference boys golf tournament, with the Dutch placing 7th and the Eagles 8th in a tight field. Just six strokes separated 2nd and 7th place. Will Simpson of Pella was the runaway league individual champion, as he was the only player under par, shooting a 69 to win the conference title by six strokes. Van Wyk Earns All-Conference Honors for Lady Dutch Golf Team
The Lady Dutch Girls Golf Team placed 5th in the Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament Monday. Pella was paced by Reagan VanWyk, who scored a 96, placing 5th and earning All-Conference Honors. Ellie Wogen (105), Ella Jahner (116), and Maggie Leach (135) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Dutch.
