The plan is set for the one-way to two-way traffic conversion on the downtown Indianola square and surrounding area for the City of Indianola. Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News city crews and contractors will work throughout the day to change the street signs, remove and add pavement markings as needed, and convert several two-way stops to four-way stops. Dissell also said it will be a significant change, but stressed the need for patience throughout the process.

“Throughout the day we are asking for caution within the corridors as we will have quite a few workers over there implementing the change. We are not planning on closing any roads for that, there may be a few delays here and there. But hopefully by the evening of May 17th most of the work that we anticipate will be done, and by the evening commute those corridors will be completely converted to two-way traffic.”

The city is also asking residents who live along the corridors of the one-way streets that will be converted to not park overnight on the street. To hear more, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
