When it was all said and done, PCM, Pella Christian, and Pleasantville’s track squads all will have athletes compete at the state tournament next week.
Pella Christian will have at least six events competing in the state tournament. Allison Van Gorp competed in both the shot put and discus as she finished with lengths of 39’3” and 134’8”, respectively. Levi Schelhaas topped both the 200 meter and 400 meter dashes. Schelhaas will also be a part of the 4×100 meter relay and the 800 sprint medley relay teams with fellow teammates Peyton Ritzert, Luke Nikkel, Isaac Kacmarynski, and Drew Geetings.
PCM’s Margo Chipps was the star of the night for the Mustangs as she qualified for four different events, three of them in hurdle events. Chipps will run in the 100 meter hurdles, 400 meter hurdles, the shuttle hurdle relay, and the 4×200 meter relay. Chipps will run the 4×200 relay with Delaney Baird, Ryan Bennett, and Chelsea Bird. The other athletes in the shuttle hurdle relay will be Bird, Kate McLellan, and Belle Hudnut. The Mustangs will also have two boys’ team events at the state tournament which are the Distance medley relay and the shuttle hurdle relay. In the distance medley, Andrew Mitchell, Landon Fenton, Jacob VanWinkle, and Beau Webb. The boys’ shuttle hurdle relay will be run by Fenton, Gatlin Boell, Trey Broderson, and Justin Maggard.
Pleasantville will compete in one event at the state tournament next week. The Trojans finished second in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:14.70. The event will be run by Sophia Mason, Kennedy Pelzer, Rayne Olson and Danika Park.
The state tournament will take place next week at Drake Stadium. The tournament will begin Thursday.
