The United States Congress is continuing work on legislation to help curb offshore tax havens for US Businesses. Congresswoman Cindy Axne tells KNIA News because the large corporations are not paying their fare share, it is hurting the Iowa economy and hurting local businesses who have to pick up the slack.

“All of our businesses here in Iowa are paying their taxes, but somehow we don’t believe that the richest corporations with the most profit should pay theirs, they get all the loopholes. This is going to help hopefully put a stop to that by hopefully shingin a light on these so the public and investors understand these risks that are really being taken by Americans to squeeze out profits and put us at a disadvantage to have the taxes needed to support our country.”
