Eagles Girls Knock Off No. 7 Van Meter on Soccer Pitch
In their best match of the season to date, the Pella Christian Girls Soccer team knocked off No. 7 in Class 1A Van Meter 2-1 Friday night as part of a varsity doubleheader on Eagle Lane.
After falling behind by one, Ellie Brouwer used her head off of a Joslyn Terpstra corner in the 22nd minute to knot up the score at one. That held until late in the 2nd half, with the P.C. defense and Goalkeeper Lydia Zylstra fending off several Bulldog scoring chances. Terpstra knocked in a corner kick in the 74th minute for the game-winning goal.
Both Brouwer and Terpstra discussed the win post match:
The Eagles girls improve to 6-6 overall and host senior night vs. No. 12 in 2A Pella on Eagle Lane. In the nightcap, the Pella Christian boys hung tough but ultimately fell to Van Meter 3-0. They fall to 2-11 and head to Pella High School to take on the No. 4 in 2A Dutch. Both Tulip City soccer matches begin at 5:30 p.m.
