Competing at one of the more difficult class 4A district qualifying meets, the Indianola boys track and field team only received five automatically qualified events to the state meet Thursday evening, but would get much better news Friday morning seeing 11 more events qualify. Head coach Matt Oliver tells KNIA Sports he felt the Indians had a great night, and was glad to see their hard work rewarded with the at-large bids.
“Fifteen events all together, fifteen out of nineteen and we even have two qualifiers in the discus. So as a coaching staff we are extremely proud of what the boys did. They came ready to compete and accomplished some great things.”
Full coverage of the state track and field meet can be heard live on KNIA this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
