Melcher-Dallas will have two athletes compete at the state tournament at Drake Stadium this week as J’Lyn Knutson and Grace Overgaard will be returning to familiar territory.

Knutson will come back to state for the third time in her career, competing in the 3000 meter run. Overgaard will be making her second trip to the state tournament, competing in the shot put, and for the first time in her career, discus. Overgaard states that she is proud of herself as she constantly keeps setting school records in both events throughout the course of the season.

“Even though it keeps happening, it is exciting that you keep getting that same record every single time.”
