The class 3A #13 Knoxville Girls Golf Squad will embark on the regionals today at Edmundson in Oskaloosa. The Panthers have put together a good season winning the South Central Conference title and a record of 27-3. Amy Sullivan is the highest ranked Panther in class 3A at 32nd in the state. Along with Sullivan freshman Faith Roozeboom and sophomore Nikolle Kussatz have also had several good rounds this season.

The boys and girls of summer in Knoxville will get their respective seasons underway on Monday as both baseball and softball squads open up at Nevada. The baseball squad is coming off a 9-10 season but returns nearly everyone from that club in Turner Devore’s 2nd season as head coach. Softball went 10-5 last year and also return a large portion of the team from a shortened season due to the pandemic last year. Second year Coach Carla Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, it all begins with pitching and with three reliable arms to choose from in Ashlyn Finarty, Jayden Streigle, and Ciara Heffron, Smith likes her pitching options in 2021.

Smith:
“We have Jayden Streigle, who is a junior this year and will help us out more, and Ashlyn being a sophomore, plus Ciara as a freshman. They’ve all really done a lot of offseason pitching and we’re already seeing their hard work.”

The Panthers will get things started Monday in Nevada with the baseball game getting underway at 7:15, while softball is scheduled to start at 7:00pm.
