Chad Bennett

The trial for Chad Bennett, scheduled to begin today, has been delayed. Bennett was scheduled to appear on charges of sexual abuse, stalking, and witness tampering. Bennett waived his right to a jury, waived his right to a speedy trial, and on Thursday, filed a motion to continue. A new trial date has not been set.

A family member, 75-year-old Pat Bennett, also faces charges of stalking and witness tampering after allegedly attempting to alter the testimony of a witness in criminal proceedings involving Chad. The witness is a juvenile.

According to court documents, Pat Bennett, on numerous occasions, attempted to make contact with the witness by following the witness with her vehicle on her way home from school.
