The Norwalk summer sports season begins tonight, with both the baseball and softball teams hitting the field. The Warrior softball team enters the year ranked #5 in Class 4A, and looks to make strides after falling a game shy of state last season. It’s a non-conference test tonight when Norwalk heads to Huxley to take on Ballard. Head Coach Andy Pals says his team has prepared as hard as possible, and is ready to get the season underway.

The Bombers finished just two games above .500 last season, and return four regular starters from that team. The game will air on 94.3 KNIA with Jon Mohwinkle calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45, with the first pitch from Huxley scheduled for 7:00.

The baseball team also begins its season, hosting Des Moines Roosevelt in a doubleheader. After winning last season’s Class 3A state title, the Warriors will begin their quest for similar success this year in Class 4A. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
