No. 4 in 2A Pella defended their home turf in impressive fashion, blanking Fairfield 4-0 Monday night to advance to the Substate finals Wednesday. Four different Dutch found the back of the net, including Isaac Semini, Ike Held, Logan Solomon, and Levi Van Dusseldorp. Pella improves to 14-4 and hosts No. 9 Fort Madison this Wednesday at Pella High School, with the Dutch seeking the programs’ 6th ever state tournament appearance, and first since winning the 2018 championship.

Lady Dutch Soccer Team Earns Mercy Rule Win Over Centerville

The No. 12 in 2A Pella girls soccer team is trying to build momentum with the postseason looming, and took another step toward the playoffs with a 10-0 win over Centerville at the Pella Soccer Complex. Monday’s match ended in the 62nd minute by mercy rule as the Lady Dutch offense flexed its muscles, led by a hat trick from Roselande Vanderhoff, two goals from Abby Warner, and one score each from Erin Nossaman, Macy Schulz, Camille Dixson, Mia Warner, and Tatum Carlstone. Pella is 11-5 and will celebrate senior night this evening vs. Indianola at 7 p.m.

Eagles Tennis Season Ends in State Quarterfinals

For the second consecutive season, the Pella Christian girls tennis season will end in the state quarterfinals after falling to Fairfield 5-0 in Oskaloosa Monday. Matches for No. 3 Katy Roose and No. 5 Syndey Van Arendonk were dropped in super tiebreakers. Roose will join the doubles duo of Megan Kramer and Kelly Van Wyk, as well as Lady Dutch freshman Emily Blom, at the 2021 State Individual Tournament June 2nd and 3rd.

Lady Dutch Golf Season Ends in Regional Tournament

The Lady Dutch Golf Team placed 7th in the Regional Golf Tournament on Monday in Oskaloosa out of 11 teams. Pella shot a team low score for this year for an 18 hole tournament with a 426. The Lady Dutch were led by Reagan VanWyk who shot a 95 (PR), placing 10th individually and 6 shots away from qualifying for the State Tournament. Other leading scores were Ella Jahner 108(PR), Ellie Wogen 110, and Olivia Hood 113(PR).

Eagles Soccer Team Falls to Ballard in Regular Season Finale

The Pella Christian girls soccer team gave up two early goals and couldn’t finish a comeback in a 4-2 loss to Ballard on Eagle Lane Monday to close out the regular season. The Bombers scored twice in the first 20 minutes to put pressure on P.C., with the Eagles countering with two early goals in the 2nd half by Joslyn Terpstra. Tied at two, the teams traded shots and breakaways before Ballard scored twice in five minutes at the 63-minute and 67-minute mark of action. Pella Christian finishes the regular season at 6-9 and will host the 1A Regional Opener at home Wednesday against Knoxville. The Eagles edged the Panthers 1-0 at Ken Locke Stadium earlier this season.


In action later today, the Pella Christian baseball team opens the summer at Roland-Story, with varsity action at approximately 7:30 p.m.
