The Memorial Day flag raising ceremony at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville has been postponed to Friday due to the weather forecast on Thursday. This is one of many similar ceremonies taking place throughout Marion County this weekend. Marion County Commision of Veterans Affairs Mike Kuhn says these ceremonies are important to attend, and are a way to honor the nation’s military and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

“It’s a great time for an individual or a family to come out and show support for the meaning of Memorial Day. To remember those who not only died serving our country, but also those who have supported our troops, whether it be family, relatives or neighbors, or even the businesses or places they work. We get a good feeling when we can come out and say ‘Thank you’ for what you’ve done.”

The ceremony at Graceland Cemetery begins at 7:00 a.m. Friday.
