The Sabers had a fantastic day on the diamonds as the baseball team collected their second shutout of the season, defeating Murray 12-0. The 11th ranked softball team took down Murray by a final of 15-4. Both games ended after five innings.

Nathan Smith got the start on the bump for Twin Cedars and dominated the Mustang bats as he pitched 3 no-hit innings with seven strikeouts. Smith helped his own cause in the game as he went 2-3 with two RBI’s. Mason Sanders came on in relief and struck out 3 while allowing no runs in two innings of work. Kade Dunkin along with Smith led the offense with a 2-3 day at the plate.

Grace Bailey got the start once again for the Sabers softball team Tuesday and notched her first win of the season. Kenzyn Roberts and Jullian French each had 2 hits, and French also drove in 4 runs. Chloe Swank added three RBI’s. Eighth Grader Ami Mockenhaupt collected her first career varsity hit with a two RBI triple. It was a clean defensive game for the Sabers and Head Coach Zack Dunkin said they would need to focus on that this season.

The baseball team is off today but will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Melcher Dallas. The softball team keeps busy with a varsity double-header tonight at Martensdale St. Mary’s. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:30.
