Several Tulip City High School athletes are in the postseason for spring sports.

On Wednesday, the Pella boys soccer team advanced to state in a penalty kick shootout over Fort Madison after playing 80 minutes in regulation and two overtimes to a scoreless tie. The appearance is the 6th in program history and first since the Dutch won the 2018 state championship. They will compete against ADM Tuesday at 2:40 p.m. at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.

Over the next two days, Pella Golfer Will Simpson will aim for a state championship in the 3A meet as an individual in Marshalltown. The junior is No. 6 in 3A heading into the two-day tournament.

This Friday and Saturday, the doubles duo of Vaughn Thompson and Jack Edwards of Pella are the No. 2 in Class 1A, and singles players Lucas Heap and Caleb Briggs will all participate in the 1A singles and doubles tournament in Waterloo. The four will be a part of the No. 2 in 1A Dutch team competing for a state championship Tuesday morning at Waveland Park in Des Moines.

Next week, Eagles girls tennis players Kelly Van Wyk and Megan Kramer in doubles, as well as Katy Roose in singles, will join Lady Dutch freshman Emily Blom in the girls 1A singles and doubles tournament, starting on Wednesday.
