The Melcher-Dallas Softball Squad got its signature win of the early season by knocking off arch rival class 1A #11 Twin Cedars 3-2 Thursday night. The Saints grabbed the lead on a single by Kynser Reed and another single by Paeytn Anderson in the first inning to make it 3-2 following the Sabers early scoring. After that, both teams were strong in the circle with the Saints BrieAnna Remster allowing just four hits striking out five and walking just one Saber batter. Kynser Reed went 2/3 at the plate with two RBI. Grace Bailey started her 4th game of the year and pitched all six innings giving up 3 earned runs, all in the first inning. Jullian French collected both the RBI’s for the Sabers in the first inning. The Saints Baseball Squad, for the second straight night, scored 11 runs and knocked off Twin Cedars 11-6. The Saints scored ten runs in the 4th inning but had to hang on as the Sabers mounted a furious comeback. The Sabers were all over the base paths in the baseball game as they racked up ten stolen bases on their nine hits, but weren’t able to capitalize enough. Twin Cedars was 3/15 with runners in scoring position. The pitching produced 11 strikeouts and Dallas Smith and Chase Rozenboom went 2/4 at the plate, but the six walks allowed came back to hurt as the Sabers fell to the Saints. Both Saints squads will host Moravia tonight. Both Twin Cedars squads host Orient-Macksburg tonight.
