Friday’s cool day shattered the previous record for the coldest May 28th on record, according to the National Weather Service.

The high of 48 observed was 11 degrees lower than the previous record coldest high of 59 set in 1967, which was also 27 degrees below normal for late May.

Daytime temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s will be in place through Memorial Day, with low chances for any significant precipitation. More normal conditions will return by the time the calendar flips to June on Tuesday, with highs returning to the 70s.
