Pella Christian went 2-0 in their games at the Jim Turner Softball Classic in Williamsburg Saturday, defeating Iowa Valley 8-3 and East Marshall 7-6 in eight innings.
“I love how our team kept fighting today after the disappointing loss last night. We hit well, and pitched well, Head Coach Karen Harrill says. I’m super proud of this team.”
In the opener, the Eagles jumped ahead and scored all eight of their runs in the first four innings. Emri Agre was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored to lead P.C. and Trinity Vos earned the win, giving up four hits in five innings.
Later in the afternoon, Pella Christian struck first for two scores in the first inning, before giving up four runs to East Marshall in the 3rd. The Eagles battled back in the 6th, scoring three to take the lead, only for the Mustangs to counter. The contest was tied at 6 after seven frames, until tiebreaker rules were implemented. Alexa Dunsbergen had the game winning RBI single to end it.
Pella Christian’s softball team improves to 3-1 and travels to Albia on Tuesday.
