The Knoxville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program begins today. Youth Services Librarian Holly Shelford tells KNIA/KRLS News that the goal is for students to read daily, supplemented with activities at the library.

“Our theme is “Reading Colors Your World” and we’re going to be dealing with a lot of colorful activities here at the library. It starts June 1st and runs through July 12th. You need to have a reading log, and you’re going to track reading. We’re going to have you read for 30 days. I don’t care how long you read each day. The recommended time would be about 20 minutes. We just want you to get in the habit of picking up and reading a book on a daily basis.”

Logs are available to pick up at the library, and no registration is required. Learn more about the Knoxville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
