Two of the top offensive teams in the South Central Conference will meet on the softball diamond tonight as Knoxville travels to Eddyville to face the Rockets in a key early season match up. The Panthers are streaking, winners of five straight and post a 6-2 record, but need to win tonight to keep pace in the conference race. Knoxville lost its conference opener last week to Davis County and Coach Carla Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they will have to be ready for every conference game this season.
Smith:
Our conference is always hard. You can’t give up on the Davis Countys and the Centervilles because they will sneak up on you. We just have to come prepared and play the best we can.”
Meanwhile on the other side of the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont school grounds, the Knoxville Baseball Squad will take on the Rockets in a double header. The Panthers have not played since a loss to Pella last Friday. The Rockets are 2-0 and due to postponements and cancellations have only two games in, winning both but have not played since May 26th. You can hear the softball contest on 95.3 KNIA starting with the pregame at 7:15.
