An industrial accident occurred at approximately 1:00 this morning at Knoxville’s 3M plant. The individual was immediately treated by 3M’s internal responders, as well as Knoxville EMS. Plant Manager Tom Buzalewski tells KNIA/KRLS News that the individual’s injury was “serious” but the individual was responsive.

“They were transported awake and alert to Mercy One in Des Moines and subsequently have been transported to Iowa City where they are being treated.”

Buzalewski says he and staff are thankful for the rapid emergency response.

“We are very grateful for the community responders. We were first on the scene with our emergency response team and trained paramedics. They immediately tended to the injury, and very rapidly, the community first responders showed up to continue the treatment. I’m very impressed with the internal team and external team, and very grateful they’re here to serve the community and the Knoxville plant.”
