A pair of Tulip City track and field athletes earned recognition from the Des Moines Register.

Kody Huisman of Pella was selected as one of 12 All-Iowa Elite Track and Field athletes in 2021, regardless of class. Huisman was honored for his 3A and Drake Relays shot put championships, and having the longest discus throw in Iowa in 2021 (186-8). He was also listed on the newspaper’s 3A All-State team.

Levi Schelhaas of Pella Christian was a Class 2A All-Iowa honoree. Schelhaas finished 2nd in the 2A 400 meter dash and 6th at the Drake Relays. He was also 7th place in the 200 and broke a school record with the 3rd place sprint medley relay at state.
