The Norwalk baseball team came back for a 7-3 victory at Oskaloosa Friday evening, as aired on KNIA3. The Warriors fell behind 3-0 after the first inning, and the teams traded scoreless innings until the fifth. That’s when Norwalk scored three of their own to tie the game, courtesy of two walks and a passed ball. A misplayed batted ball from Tyler Wegner in the top of the seventh broke a 3-3 tie and started a scoring rally, as Norwalk scored four runs in the frame to complete the scoring and secure the win. Head Coach Chad Wiedmann says that his team was able to shake off a rocky start.

Ian Fisher got his first pitching start of the season, and gave up five hits and three runs while walking three and striking out six. Tucker Beving finished the job, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out seven in three innings of work. Cody Hargin led the way offensively with two hits and an RBI. Norwalk improves to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. They return to action Monday at home against Newton.

The softball team was also in action, but fell 7-0 to the Indians. Oskaloosa scored two runs in the first to set the tone, and opened up the game with five runs in the fifth, all while holding the Warriors off the board the entire night. Norwalk falls to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play. They’ll return to Oskaloosa today for a tournament, where they will take on Mount Vernon at 11:00 a.m. and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont at 2:30 p.m.

The girls soccer team hosted Winterset in the Class 2A Region 3 Championship, and advanced to state with a 1-0 victory. With 14:32 remaining in regulation, Reagan Holtorf scored a header goal with the assist from JoJo Bice for the game’s only score. Norwalk is now 15-2 overall. Norwalk is the #3 seed in the state tournament, and will take on #6 North Scott in the first round on Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. at the Cownie Soccer complex in Des Moines.
