Pleasantville’s softball squad came up empty in a tournament at Iowa City as they lost to Bettendorf 5-3 and North Scott 9-4.

In the Trojans’ first game against Bettendorf, all three runs came in the first inning on a three-RBI double from Hannah Gibson. After taking a 3-0 lead, Carly Cox surrendered five runs in the second inning and Pleasantville was never able to get back in the scoring column. COx gave up just three hits, but walked five batters.

In game two, it was another big inning that doomed Pleasantville. After taking a 4-3 lead, North Scott scored six runs in the third inning. Josie Sowers went two for four with an RBI. Jaden Tibben also went two for three on the day. Kristen Roe gave up eight runs and four walks, picking up the loss.

The Trojans’ softball squad will be back in action today for a tournament at Bondurant-Farrar. The tournament will start with Pleasantville playing the host at 9:00 AM. The Trojans’ second game will be at 12:30 PM against Saydel. Pleasantville’s baseball squad will also have a tournament today at Coon Rapids-Bayard The first matchup for the Trojans will be against Bedford at 1:00 PM.
