Melcher-Dallas’ softball squad split their final two games in the Murray tournament with a 12-0 victory over East Union, but they ultimately came up short against Nodaway Valley with a 6-5 loss.
The Saints quickly got ahead in game one thanks to a ten-run second inning and never looked back. Riley Enfield and Kynser Reed both had three hits and two RBIs. Haley Godfrey finished two for four with three RBIs on the day. BrieAnna Remster pitched a one-hit shutout including seven strikeouts.
The Saints fought back from being down by three with a two-run seventh inning, but it ultimately wasn’t enough. Reed went two for four with a home run and two RBIs. Godfrey finished with two for three with an RBI in the loss. It was fielding that ultimately doomed Melcher-Dallas as they committed six errors in the game.
Melcher-Dallas will be back in action for a non-conference road game against Interstate-35 Monday. The game will begin at 7:00 PM.
