twin-cedars-4

The Twin Cedars softball team was dominant Tuesday at Diagonal, blowing out the Maroons 18-0, while the Sabers baseball team was defeated by the top team in the Bluegrass Conference in Ankeny Christian 6-0.

The Sabers softball girls took care of business on the road Tuesday as the offense had 20 hits that led to 18 runs in three innings. Chole Durian went 4-4 with three RBIs to lead Twin Cedars. Grace Bailey and Cristen Durian each had three hits while Ami Mockenhapt drove in three runs. Bailey was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit in the rout.

Twin Cedars looked to hand Ankeny Christian their first loss in conference play but couldn’t overcome an early deficit to get the job done. Ankeny Christian scored five runs in the first three innings and tacked on their final run in the fifth. The Eagles kept the Sabers off the board to drop Twin Cedars to .500 on the season.

The Twin Cedars summer sports teams are off Wednesday night before welcoming Moulton-Udell to Bussey Thursday.
