The Knoxville Baseball Squad was unable to keep up with class 5A Ankeny Centennial on Thursday night and lost 11-3. The Panthers got down early as the Jaguars scored two runs, one on a lead off solo home run in the 1st inning. Knoxville did not dent the scoreboard until the 4th inning when Trenton Kingery launched a home run to right center field. Niko Lacona took the loss going three innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and striking out two. Knoxville is now 4-9 and along with the softball girls will travel to Clarke tonight. For the softball squad, the Panthers are looking to put aside the frustration of Wednesday’s loss to Albia. Freshman Brittany Bacorn and Sophomore Emma Dunkin tell KNIA/KRLS Sports that while the start of the conference season has not gone as planned, there are still games on the schedule they are confident they can get.
Both games are scheduled for a 7:30 start in Osceola.
