Knoxville’s musical theatre department recently received recognition from the Iowa Musical Theatre Association for their performance of “Meet Me in St. Louis.” Among the awards received was recognition for dedication to accessible arts opportunities. Annie Leonard with the musical says this recognition is a reflection of a community effort to put on these performances.

“This is a community project. It’s not just parents, although we do have lots of parents who stop in to help. It’s a wonderful group of people, and we have so much fun. If you’re interested, feel free to check in with me next January and see how you can be part of it.”

The production was also recognized for Outstanding Overall Technical and Creative Achievement. Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role recipients included Katelynn Collins as “Esther Smith” and Hayden Hudson as “Agnes Smith.”

Johanna Leonard as “Katie” was recognized for Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role.
