The Indianola baseball and softball teams dominated Newton on the road Friday night in a pair of doubleheaders, baseball winning game one 14-2 in five innings and game two 10-1, and softball winning 10-2 in the first contest and 10-0 in the second.

The Indians baseball squad had a plethora of multi-hit nights, with Kael Kolarik, Bennett Brueck, Jack Strong, and Casey Stecker each getting a pair of hits, with Noah Johnston hitting his 4th home run of the season with a two-run shot in the third. Stecker got the win on the mound, with four strikeouts.

Kolarik hit a home run in game two going 2-5 at the plate, while Brady Blake and Mark Pepper each went 2-3. Max Trembly picked up his first career win on the mound. Head coach Jon Fitzpatrick tells KNIA Sports consistency is key for the Indians, and if they can play at the same level night in and night out, they can continue to get better. The Indians improve to 12-4 on the season, and play Norwalk on Monday.

RBI hits from Destiny Lewis and Kylee Tucker got hits for #6 Indianola softball in the top of the first for the Indians to go ahead 3-0 early. Indianola added another six runs in the third and fourth innings, with hits from Amanda Bauer and Mara Bishop, then added an insurance run in the sixth with a groundout from Selia Becker. Kate Kralik got the win in the circle striking out 13.

Game two was much of the same, as Indianola struck for four runs in each of the first and second innings, highlighted by a two-run home runs from Bishop and Macie Mays, and a double from Brynn Ortlund, before adding another two runs in the third with an RBI hit from Lewis and ending the game in five innings. Tucker got the win in the circle, as the Indians improve their winning streak to seven games and sit at 15-3 on the season. They make the long road trip to Davenport today for a three-game tournament.
