twin-cedars-4

For the first time this season, both of the Twin Cedars summer sports teams were off for the weekend. The time off comes on the verge of yet another week full of games for the Sabers.

Twin Cedars Softball has already fit 20 games into the first three weeks of the season and have another six games on the schedule this week. It will be punctuated by the second game against their Marion County rival Melcher-Dallas. The Sabers dropped the contest earlier this summer 3-2. The matchup could have big implications as the winner will sit alone atop the Bluegrass Conference standings.

After a rough week on the Baseball diamond, the Sabers will look to bounce back and put themselves back in the win column. The big matchup of the week will be the rematch Thursday with Melcher-Dallas. The Sabers let that game slip away in the fourth inning, giving up 10 runs before falling 11-6. Head Coach Mark Schroeder said that the team knows this matchup will be a big game in dictating how the rest of the season will go.

Before the Melcher-Dallas showdown, Twin Cedars will travel to Des Moines on Monday where the Sabers will take on Grand View Christian. The Baseball game is at 6 p.m. and the Softball contest is at 7 p.m.
