In a battle for the lead in the Little Hawkeye Conference standings, the Indianola softball team slipped past Norwalk 2-0 Monday evening, as aired on KNIA3. The Indians got on the board in the top of the first when Alley May reached via error in the game’s first at bat. She was driven home later in the inning on a Kylee Tucker double.

After three scoreless innings, Brynn Ortlund got aboard and again was driven in by Tucker, her second RBI of the game.

A Norwalk rally in the sixth with runners on first and was as close as the Warriors got to scoring, and Norwalk was set down in the seventh to conclude the game.

Tucker led the Indians with two hits and two RBI’s, while Jayden Lammers, Jaylynn Brandt and Lexi Soukup each had one hit for the Warriors. Both pitchers went the distance. Indianola’s Kate Kralik gave up three hits and three walks while recording nine strikeouts. Haley Downe allowed six hits and three walks with four strikeouts for Norwalk.

Up next, the Warriors will play two at Dowling Catholic today at 5:00 p.m. Indianola will host Pella Christian tonight at 7:15, with pregame coverage beginning at 7:00 on 94.3 KNIA.
