The City of Indianola and Indianola Chamber of Commerce held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Square Reconstruction Project Monday morning, as Phase 1 of the project has begun. Mayor Pam Pepper tells KNIA News her thoughts on the groundbreaking.
“It’s very heartwarming because this is what you want as a mayor. You want growth, you want development, you want your citizens to have the nice things in life, a thriving part of your community. On a personal note, it’s very exciting to see this all come to fruition, and we are excited about it. We know there will be some bumps along the way, that there are many phases to this project, but it’s going to be wonderful when it’s all done.”
Phase 1 of the project includes shutting down N Buxton St. on the square as well as two blocks of W Salem Ave on the square and extending west. Phase 1 is expected to be complete by mid-November. For more information, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
