It was all Knoxville in the softball version of the Red Rock Rivalry as the Panthers defeated Pella 13-0, stopping the game in the 4th inning due to the 12-run mercy rule as heard on both KNIA and KRLS. The Panthers struck early on as pitcher Jadyn Streigle helped her own cause with a sacrifice fly to score Brittany Bacorn, who singled to lead off the game. The Panthers were not done; they plated eight runs in the 3rd inning highlighted by Olivia Maasdam’s bases clearing double.

Bacorn would add to Pella’s misery smacking a two run homer to left. Coach Carla Smith told KNIA/KRLS Sports she thought her team had more energy and overall approach to the game and at the plate have improved in recent days.

Pella was limited to just four hits and never got a runner past second base. Katie Pollock, Kiki Riggen, Ava Curry, Payton Lyons all got one hit for the Lady Dutch. Streigle earned the win going all four innings and striking out two. Taylor Tousey took the loss going three innings. Knoxville is now 12-6 on the season and are off until the Panthers host Pella Christian Thursday night on 95.3 KNIA. Pella is 2-17 and will be back in action at Indianola tonight for a double header.
