The Norwalk summer sports teams put together a clean sweep of Pella Christian Wednesday night, winning both games in both doubleheaders.

The baseball teams played a pair of one run games. Norwalk (RV-4A) walked off for a 3-2 win in game 1 and held on for a 6-5 win in game 2, which aired on KRLS. The Eagles scored twice in the first inning of game 2, first on a bases-loaded walk and the second on a passed ball. Norwalk responded with three runs in the bottom of the first on RBI’s by Vinnie Mauro, Dylan Christensen and Casey Greenlee. Pella Christian fought back to take a 4-3 lead on a hit from Micah DeHaan and a Corbin Westercamp sac fly, but Norwalk added their final three runs in the third to go up 6-4, courtesy of Greenlee’s second hit and a Tyler Wegner double. The Eagles got back within one run in the sixth, but were shut down in the seventh. Norwalk senior Brock Miller says it was an exciting night, and his team came through when it mattered most.

Miller had three hits in game 2 to lead the way offensively. Tucker Beving was the winning pitcher, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out five in five innings pitched. Bennett Spronk had two base hits to lead the Eagles. Ty Vander Molen was the losing pitcher, giving up seven hits, one walk and a strikeout in 3.1 innings pitched. Pella Christian moves to 5-12 overall and 4-7 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. They return to action tonight at Knoxville, which will air on KRLS. Norwalk is now 17-1 overall and 10-1 in conference play. They’ll be back in action Friday at Pella.

On the softball diamond, the #6 in 4A Warriors came out on top twice, taking game 1 3-2 and earning a 7-0 shutout in game 2. Pella Christian scored in the first and last innings of game 1, but nothing in between. Two runs in the third and one in the fifth was enough for Norwalk to earn the win. A methodical effort in game 2 saw Norwalk score three runs in the first, two in the third, and one each in the fifth and sixth to put the game out of reach. Pella Christian moves to 10-10 overall and 3-9 in conference play. They return to action tonight at Knoxville, which will air on 95.3 KNIA. Norwalk is now 14-6 overall and 9-2 in conference play. They’ll be at Pella Friday, which will air on 92.1 KRLS.
