After a near-record high temperature was recorded Thursday, warmer than average conditions will continue through the weekend. The high of 96 in Marion County approached the previous record of 97 degrees, set in 1940. Afternoon temperatures will still near and possibly top 90 degrees through Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. A significant cooldown is expected by Monday, as daytime highs will drop into the mid-70s early next week. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
