The #4 in 4A Norwalk softball team earned a 4-0 victory at Pella Friday evening, as aired on KRLS. After two scoreless innings, the Warriors got on the board in the top of the third on a Kaylee Cary double that scored two runs.

A fielding error would allow another Norwalk run to score in the frame. Jayden Lammers drove in the game’s final run in the sixth to complete the scoring. The Lady Dutch threatened in the bottom of the sixth by loading the bases with no outs, but Norwalk pitcher Haley Downe delivered two strikeouts, and the inning ended with a popout.

Cary led at the plate for Norwalk with two hits along with her two RBI’s. Thea Wisse led the Dutch with two hits. Haley Downe was the winning pitcher, giving up five hits and two walks while recording 13 strikeouts. Ella Corbin took the loss, giving up seven hits and three walks. Norwalk moves to 15-6 overall and 10-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. They return to action today at a tournament in Oskaloosa, taking on Keokuk and Iowa City Liberty. Pella moves to 2-20 overall and 0-12 in conference play. They’ll host Newton Monday in a doubleheader, with game 2 airing on KRLS.

The Norwalk baseball team picked up a 6-2 road victory over Pella, avenging their only loss of the season. The Warriors broke the game open with four runs scored in the top of the fourth. Pitcher Vinnie Mauro was credited with the win, while Pella’s Jason Knox took the loss. Norwalk moves to 18-1 overall and 11-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. They’ll host Oskaloosa Monday. Pella drops to 11-8 overall and 6-6 in conference play. They’ll host Newton Monday.
