Congresswoman Cindy Axne and US Labor Secretary Marty Walsh toured the Missouri Valley Line Constructors Apprenticeship and Training facility Friday afternoon, visiting the facility that opened up earlier this year. Congresswoman Axne tells KNIA News facilities such as the one here in Indianola are an important piece of the infrastructure bill proposed by President Biden and that she supports.

“This is the kind of place that will be instrumental in getting those workers out there. And it isn’t just about the plan, it’s about the continued work thereafter. To maintain secured grids, to make sure we are building out to every community, and the maintenance of that. Our hope through all of that is to increase opportunity for rural communities, to see more businesses there. And then we are going to need more support from these workers to help us build out from those buildings and work on those electric issues. I think this is phenomenal and we need more, and I’ll tell you what, we are impressing the Secretary of Labor with this and I’m glad it’s here in Iowa.”
