One of the few benefits from the severe storms that impacted the region was the needed precipitation that fell over the weekend.

Several communities received between 1 ½” to 3” of rain since Friday evening. The following area rainfall totals were recorded:
Pella – 1.46”
Knoxville – 2.16”
Lake Red Rock – 1.89”
Indianola – 1.83”
South River Near Ackworth – 3.02”
White Breast Creek near Melcher-Dallas – 1.94”
Cedar Creek near Bussey – 1.79”

Last week, most of Marion County and Warren County were upgraded to moderate drought conditions. Prior to Friday’s storms, most locations hadn’t seen rain since just before Memorial Day.

Additional chances for rain will return later this week with more seasonable afternoon high temperatures returning Tuesday and continuing through the weekend.
